Product Description
The Platinum Drinkwell is suitable for cats and small dogs. The Platinum Drinkwell has 2 major advantages over the standard model. Firstly the unit holds over a gallon and a quarter (178 fluid ounces) of water in a built-in additional capacity reservoir and is compact. Secondly, the motor is fully submerged making it extremely quiet. The fountains design means that the motor is really accessible and easy to remove for cleaning. In the same way as the Standard and Big Dog Drinkwell it continuously circulates water through a carbon filter keeping it aerated and chilled. A stream of water 'free falls' from a spout into the bowl running all the time. A changeable filter removes food particles, hair, chlorine and odours. The platinum uses the same replacement filters as the other two fountains in the range, it plugs into the mains, & is guaranteed for 12-months

5 out of 5 stars A hit with our "boys"!   January 3, 2009

We have two male cats and both of them seem to really like this product and drink from the flowing fountain part regularly. I believe there is sound vetinary counsel behind the idea of cats drinking fresh, clean water in terms of helping their kidneys etc.

The fountain is well constructed and relatively easy to clean, with a renewable charcoal filter that lasts a long time and is easy to replace. It consumes very little power and I believe the fountain pump is probably quite similar to those found in fish tanks etc. It makes a slight humming noise which competes with the gentle sound of water flowing out of the fountain lip.

Overall, a hit with our cats and recommended.

5 out of 5 stars Huge hit with Siberians   January 28, 2009

Siberians are famously attracted to water, and as they grew up our two indoor Siberians were spending more and more time sitting in the sink and trying to drink out of the tap and any other receptacle left in there - yuk! This fountain has been an instant hit, with both cats scrambling to drink out of it, even before I'd managed to switch the motor on (they seem to love the large pool at the bottom of the fountain much better than their small water bowls dotted all over the house. Once the motor was switched on, they LOVED the falling stream of water and have spent ages drinking, playing with it and just sitting watching it.

The motor does hum quietly and my husband complains that the water sounds as if we have a constant leak, but I quite like the noise & find it pleasantly relaxing. I think that we'll turn it off at night and during the long periods when the cats are busy sleeping, to save electricity, and also to retain the novelty value.

The fountain is easy to assemble, even first time round and it is well designed. Regular cleaning is no problem - it takes about 20 minutes just once a week, and I use baby bottle sterilizing tablets for the inaccessible areas of the water tank, especially in hot, sunny weather. The brush set is an excellent purchase to go with the fountain, as the brushes are designed to fit into the little nooks & crannies.

All in all, it is one of our more successful purchases.

This product is great, my cat loves it, was worried the noise might scare him off, but he was straight in there catching the running water. It certainly encourages him to drink more, as the water stays fresh, and stops him wanting to put his head down the toilet for a drink! With evaporation and my 1 cat i'm filling it up once a week, it's easy to dismantle and clean, although full of water it is quite heavy. I would definitely recommend, it's a must for all pet owners.

5 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC   July 1, 2009

I have 2 Maine Coons who are attracted to water, being big cats and needing plenty of available fresh water makes this PUUURRRRFECT! The large vessel on the back holds lots of water, and they are really attracted to this rather than grabbing my attention all the time to 'turn the taps on'! In this hot weather they love nothing more than some ice cubes floating about in the moat which they paw out and play with. I had the 'Cat-It' drinking dome, which packed up and this was my replacement.

5 out of 5 stars A really good buy   September 15, 2009

I would recommend this for any cat owner, as our 2 use it all the time. It keeps the water fresh, and is particularly good if you're going away for a couple of days as you know their water isn't going to get stagnant. A very good buy.
