After many years of a conventional cat box and different types of litter products, I have recently purchased the Littermaid LME9000 am fairly pleased with the product.
It was fairly straightforward to assemble although you have to make sure that the plastic waste receptacle is secure between the two lips of the main box.
One of my cats took to using it straightaway although both initially were spooked by it.
You do have to be carefull on the amounts of litter that is used as I am trialling a wheat based litter which is extremely absorbent and therefore swells. This initially caused the rake to struggle until the amount was reduced and this now works perfectly. I believe in the long term this will more than pay for itself by the lesser amount of litter I am having to use.
Since it has four blanking pins at the top, my only criticism is that Salton do not provide and do not intend to supply the Kitty Kabana or Privacy Tent and will have to purchase from the USA.
Since reading the very bad American reviews on the Kabana and Tent - I shall save my money and make my own.

I used to own the smaller model of this product but then I got two cats which meant I was having to change the waste box every couple of days and top up the litter more frequently.
I purchased this product when I saw that it was suitable for multi cat households and it works really well. Both cats are happy to use it because it is always kept clean and like the smaller model, the smells are drasticaly reduced!

Tray works good, and although it's a multiple cat household tray (I haver 4 cats) it gets stuck every day on big clumps :-( Also, the container should be bigger, I am having to empty the container twice a day!

For the last 3 years one of our two cats has regulalry pee'd on carpets throughout our house - causing dreadful smells, loads of cleaning work for us, and several thousand pounds in replacement carpets.
Nothing we tried stopped the cat peeing and we were at our wits end when we heard about the Littermaid product on a bulletin board. We thought it was worth a go and overnight it has changed our life. The cats started to use it straight away and its quick cleaning action means there are never any smells or unsighlty sights. This is a great product - four weeks on I cant stop telling people how great it is.

When we first got this litter tray we set it all up and used Catsan clumping litter with it. It all kept going wrong and not clearing the lumps properly and it was still smelling. After a week or so we tried worlds best cat litter with this and what a difference its made. It works so well now and clears all the clumps up on its own and the smell has gone. I would recommend anyone to use worlds best with this even though its slightly more expensive that the other brands it does work a lot better and it lasts about twice as long. We went through so much catsan with this litter in the first week. We have two cats and 1 small bag of worlds best lasts for nearly two weeks without any smell.
The only thing I would say is that with this litter tray you must have quite a large space to keep it and it must be somewhere right beside a plug so that can be a bit awkward but other than that its really handy and much cleaner than normal cat litters.
