Much better than the other Cat-It Fountain! July 31, 2009 Trish in France (France) 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
I've had two of the Cat-It "Dome" fountains and they've made me crazy: it's difficult to add water to the dome (you have to take it to the sink), it gets dirty quickly and the cats weren't crazy about it.
This one is easy - I just top it up with water from a pitcher. The cats love it and are drinking a LOT more water! For leakage, you have to watch carefully the "red" button - once it rises up, you STOP adding water or else it leaks!
Very effective and easy to use February 11, 2010 Adam Bartleby (London, UK) I was worried that my cat wasn't drinking enough from his regular water bowl, especially since he mainly eats dry food. However, since I bought him this, he has been drinking a lot more and his appetite has also improved.
I'd recommend this fountain over the 'fancier' ones that have integrated food bowls etc since this one is very easy to keep clean and refill (I find the best way to do this is with a jug). It is also neat, takes up very little floor space and the pump doesn't make too much noise - mine is actually in the living room because I didn't have a suitable plug in the kitchen.
Highly recommended if you have an 'indoor' cat who can't forage for exciting outdoor water sources - I think my cat believes that he's discovered an indoor fresh water spring!
cat fountain September 2, 2009 Ms. L. J. Pegg So far so good - had it for 30 minutes and both the kitten and the big cat are drinking from it!! Filters are replaceable but will be interested to see how long the pump lasts.
Saves turning on the bath tap anyway...
Does the job October 27, 2009 Mr. R. Sharman 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
We've found this fountain to be excellent. Our cat wasn't drinking enough and had bladder problems as a result. Our vet suggested a fountain and I admit I was sceptical about how much difference it would make but it really does. Now the cat drinks plenty. We've had this fountain for a year and no problems, either with the fountain or the cat.
The only reason I haven't rated it 5-star is because the are several parts and it is a bit fiddly to clean. Having said that, I've got it down to five minutes cleaning every 5 or 6 days, which isn't a great deal.
The pump is small and obviously won't last forever but I suspect those who've only had a few months out of it haven't been cleaning it properly. The pump comes apart so that you can clean the small parts; spend a couple of minutes a week doing this and you should have no worries. The filters can also be be quite easily cleaned and re-used a few times to get your money's worth out of them.
My cat recommends this product!
Cats love it but you must clean the pump. December 26, 2009 Mrs. S. C. Standerwick (Wales) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
All my cats love drinking from this. Its fairly easy to clean (I use a bottle brush for the narrow its). Even with 3 cats the filters last longer than advertised. As others have said if you fill until the red marker is at the top then even a tiny amount extra causes it to leak by the lead cover.
For the people who've had problems with the pump - have you tried dismantling it and cleaning it fully? The end cover comes off, as does the little plastic 'chimney', there's then a large comma shaped piece of plastic that comes off exposing a kind of fan shaped piece that pulls out. Its this last piece that can get gunked up. I gave mine a good clean and the pump started working again.
Despite this minor niggles I've given this 4 stars as my cats love it, its easy to keep clean (compared to other pet fountains I've tried) and its relatively cheap compared to other similar products.
