| Customer Reviews: A must read for any cat owner September 23, 2007 G. Lewis (Amsterdam, NL) 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
Dr Hodgkins cuts through all the hype generally associated with cat ownership and addresses the important issues facing cat owners. This is based around a solidly reasoned emphasis on the proper nutrition for cats. The no-nonsense approach of this book gives practical information that is easily accessible to all readers. Within weeks of changing my cats' diet, I was able to improve their health and condition. If you have a cat, even if it does not have diabetes, obesity or IBD, you should read this book so that you can proactively prevent such avoidable illnesses.
Best book on cat nutrition I ever read February 4, 2009 Mette Bechmann (Denmark, Scandinavia) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is defently a "must have" if you are interested in you cats wellbeing now and in the future. I'm a big admire of the author and hope one day to hear the author herself telling about the many issues in the book :)
Essential reading for all cat owners September 3, 2010 shootingstar This is a great book, packed full of useful information about the feline diet and the issues with many modern commercial cat foods. It is written by a vet who is a cat breeder as well. She provides a balanced argument for low carbohydrate cat foods and includes case studies showing illnesses resulting from modern commercial diets. She includes details of how to assess commercial foods so that you can choose a good one for your cat no matter which country you live in.
I am a cat breeder who has fed a raw diet for a long time but I realise that this is not for everyone. This book has helped me to provide our new kitten owners with sensible, logical and easy dietry advice for the long term health of our kittens. It has helped me to understand the processes by which high carb commercial foods actually lead to different diseases- something that most other cat dietry books don't explain.
I would recommend this book to all cat owners and breeders too.
