Product Description The classic bestseller--expanded and updated For years, many veterinary treatments for cats were based on research conducted with dogs because it was wrongly assumed that cats were very similar. Recently, there have been giant strides in feline veterinary research.

Excellent, easy to read and concise March 8, 2001 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I found this to be thorough and detailed about various problems. It is written with the cat owner in mind and not a vet, so it is easy to understand. It tells you in detail how to do mouth to mouth in an emergency, which other books don't. It also gives good advice on what do do if your cat drinks various poisons. The best cat medical book I have bought.
This book offers a comprehensive resource for cat owners. January 4, 1999 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
This is a must-have for any cat owner. While it does help to have a basic understanding of medical terms, the book offers an in-depth resource for ailments of all types as well as information on basic cat-care. Photos throughout the book aid in visual recognition of signs and symptoms of a multitude of illnesses.
Read the book; now I use the author's services April 19, 1998 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I received the book as a gift 2 years ago. When a friend's Siamese developed anorexia-like symptoms, we pored over the commentary and decided our current vet wasn't treating her properly. We saw Dr. Liisa Carlson, whose treatment quickly cleared up the problem. We are grateful for the book's clarity and helpfulness
Invaluable book July 16, 2009 SecondCherry 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Every cat owner should have this book. If you want to understand anything about the physiology of your animal, this is a great book - full explanations, proper diagrams etc. It is American and therefore contains some information that isn't relevant to UK owners, but this is the case with most veterinary books. A far better book than, for instance, the RSPCA Complete Cat Care Manual which only says for every ailment: take the cat to the vet rather than giving you any real information.
A must for cat lovers! November 2, 1997 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
In the last 6 months we adopted 9 cats/kittens. Knowing little about these delightful creatures, we needed help! This book answers all your questions and more. When it's tougher than this you need a vet. I searched for another volume to boost my knowledge but couldn't find one better.
